12 TAGS of 2012 - MAY

...don't think about making art, just get it done...let everyone else decide if it's good or bad, whether they loVe it or hate it...while they are deciding, make more art...
-Andy Warhol-

...hello everyone today I'm sharing with you my take on Tim's May Tag...I didn't have most of the ingredients needed but at the end of the day it's all about improvisation...

...I used Tim's Ideaology paper with the sewing pattern & went over all the print with a blue pen in the hope that when the tissue was down it would look like i'd stamped it (as have no stamps on this theme)...

...I made my own coat hanger pin with a standard paper clip, twisting the end with small bead pliers & added a few safty pins...black rafia used as a belt...

...hand sewn tape & the icle flowers were coated in Glossy Accents...

STAINED KRAFT RESIST

...let us be grateful to the people who make us happy for they are the gardeners who make our souls blossom...
-Marcel Proust-

...hello everyone...after finishing day 5 of Tim Holtz on line Chemistry class I thought I'd have a play with the Stained Kraft Resist technique...

...I loVe this Kraft Resist paper of Tim's...the inks I've used are Barn Door & Black Soot, the splodges are white emulsion dabbed onto bubblewrap...

...the sentiment is one of Andy Skinners the letter styling has a grungy/underground vibe...

...I took inspiration for this Tag from Ronda Palazzari (Sizzix DT) she had cut out a 2nd umbrella & embossed it then added to the origional, I tentertively put the whole thing in the folder fully expecting it to tear but it didn't yay!...

...I had to give this guy a heart...

...just torn Mulberry Paper...

...it was cool making an inky mess :) ...

...but I couldn't of made this Tag at all without the kindness of my darling friend May http://mayshappydaze.blogspot.co.uk/  when she cuts out from her Die's she does extra for me whilst I'm slowly building my crafting stash of ingredients, thank you my beautiful friend...

SOMETHING BRITISH

...to understand the heart & mind of a person look not at what he has already achieved, but at what he aspires to...
-Kahlil Gibran-

...today I'm sharing with you an ATC which I made for our recent Swap...

...this is held once a month and we each take a turn at theme choice, it was May's turn & her theme was 'something British...

...my aim was to give a shabby chic feel to this ATC...I cut the red & blue pieces by hand & gave them a light sanding, then stuck the lot on my white card, then gave the whole thing a Modge Podge coating, once dried another light sanding to make it roughed up...

...this stamp image was given the spritz & flick technique from Tim's on-line class, then added some tiny brads & some bead wire to frame the image, then stuck on top of plain buff corrugated card...

...I embossed the crown with old gold, bit annoyed it pitted (if anyone can shed some light I'd like to know why it happens) but adds to the shabby look, added a few iridescent beads and there she is...

...and the back again the shabby look...

...well thats my 3rd ATC in a row now & I loVe these little beauties!...

also

...Mr Postie arrived with a little something for me...

...this rather splendid watercolour by Sally Anne Lambert was sent to me by Lynn of http://oneimadeearliertoday.blogspot.co.uk/ ...Lynn had visited Haworth Art Gallery in Accrington & saw this beautiful Fox card & thought of me and decided to purchase it and sent it to me...thank you so much Lynn you have a beautiful heart...

A CARD WITH WONDERFUL NEWS

...courage faces fear & thereby masters it...
-Martin Luther King Jr-

...hello everyone...today i'm sharing with you some wonderful news & also a card that helped along the way...

...a wee while back Craftwork Cards put out a DT call and one of their conditions was to make something for them that hadn't been posted or published before and to use their products...this is the card I made...

...the background, the dressform, the spool, skirt & button choker are all Craftwork Card papers...

...my idea for the skirt to to get the 'ra-ra' look of layering so I used Tim's Tiny Tag Die, her belt is natural jute with a couple of the Tags as tassels...

...the same paper was wrapped around the spool & I thought the sentiment may bring me luck...

... and the button from the dressform die was used as a snazzy choker & pulled her completed look together...

...well, after weeks of self doubt I sent this card off with my info and I'm thrilled to tell you they liked it & saw something in my work  that enabled them to choose me to be part of their Design Team...

...I'm delighted & cannot wait to share lots of new designs with you...

YOUR FAVOURITE TECHNIQUE

...everything has beauty but not everyone see's it...
-confucious-

...today I'm sharing with you an ATC...
...after making my first one the other day and loosing my fear of it's size I think I may become addicted to these little fella's...

...since learning new inky techniques from our amazing Mr Tim Holtz all I want to do is Spritz & Flick...so I covered the base of my ATC with a coating of Walnut DI, once heat dried I flicked water droplets & heat dried them too, I loVe this technique it gives a cool shabby vintage vibe...

...this cute Texture Faded butterfly was lightly dusted with Frayed Burlap DI & set upon crumpled brown paper generously splashed with Tattered Angels Meadow...

...some corrugated card & clear sequins add extra dimention...

...I'm entering this little fella into The Stampman Challenge 'Your Favourite technique'...

...thankyou for stopping by today...
