CHALLENGE NUMBER 5 at THAT CRAFT PLACE

...the voice of the sea speaks to the soul...

...yes it's that time again my fellow crafters for CHALLENGE NUMBER 5 over at THAT CRAFT PLACE...the theme for this challenge is 'Oh I DO LIKE TO BE BESIDE THE SEASIDE'...

...for this challenge I have made a Card and a Tag which i'd like to share with you...

...these gorgeous beach huts are Tanda Stamps from a set called Summer Set 1...you get 14 (yes 14!) stamps in this pack so excellent value for money...

...they were gently shaded with Old Paper ink by Tim Holtz, edges distressed and coloured with Tumbled Glass & Wild Honey inks both Tim Holtz...

...the gorgeous background paper is by Crafty Individuals (The Seaside - 24 pages of 6'x6')...

...I'm a lover of driftwood so it only seemed right to add a little piece of Eastbourne's shoreline to this card...the gold beads give a drifting sand look all set upon a roughed up piece of hessian with some little shell embelishments...

...and lastly...no seaside scene would be complete with seagulls...these were simple to make all that I used was a piece of white raffia which was cut to size, twisted and the edges feathered, really simple to do...

...phew...and now for the tag...

...a standardTag was colour washed with Tumbled Glass for this I patted the ink pad onto my craft mat then spritzed with water then placed top half of tag down on to it, lifted and half dried with heat tool, then spritzed with Tattered Angels 'Patina' and finished drying...the bottom half is Wild Honey ink with ageing distress power scattered on top and heat dried...it looks and feels like sand...small glass beads immitate sea foam...

...for the flotsam & jetsam wrapped around the driftwood breakwater I used knarled up hessian and burlap and a few strands of iridescent fibers then added sequines for stones and a few shell embelishments...

...the seagull (same as for the card)...

...a cute driftwood tag stamped with the word summer...

...well you'll probably need a cup of tea after that!!...
...I do hope these pictures get your crafting juices flowing as there is great Blog Candy to be won...so have fun, try new things, step outside your comfort zone and I look forward to seeing all your creations...Mel :)

...the Tanda Stamps and most of the materials I have used on the Card and the Tag are available to buy in store or online from THAT CRAFT SHOP...visit Lisa's Blog...http:/thatcraftplaceblog.blogspot.com/

TREATS from MOTHER NATURE

Today i'd like to share something different with you...

...living on the South Coast with the shore line on my doorstep a stroll on the beach can often offer up inspirational treasures...alas our beach is heavy shingle with sand only appearing when the tide is right out...no pretty shells to be found but always a booty bag of goodies to bring home...small pieces of driftwood and an obsession of mine, heart shaped stones...

...its not easy but they are there, you just have to look...every stone in this dish is heart shaped...

CHALLENGE NUMBER 4 at THAT CRAFT PLACE

Hello everyone...
I have exciting news to share with you...since my last post i have been asked to join the Design Team over at That Craft Place...I look forward to sharing with you my exciting journney through all things crafting with the team...

The theme for Challenge Number 4 is Home Sweet Home...for this I have designed a card and a tag using an amazing Craft Die from Memory Box called 'Country House' ...

The background paper is Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Crowded attic, he has some amazing papers in this collection...as you can see the Memory Box Die cuts a really sharp image through the corrogated card which I distressed using Rangers 'Freyed Burlap' such a versatile colour...

...for the tag i have used a shimmer mist on the background they give such a great effect and as you can see the Die has cut sharply throught the thin sheet of wood which i sat on top of some freyed burlap, it gives a great texture...then to frame the windows i used Tim Holtz Film Strip Ribbon, looks kinda neat eh...
Well i hope these 2 images will give you some inspiration for the Challenge and i look forward to seeing them all...never be afraid to try something new something outside your comfort zone...all of the items I have mentioned are available to buy in shop or online at www.thatcraftplace.co.uk so check it out and grab yourself a bargin as their sale is on at the moment...

January Tag Swap...Angels or Fairies.

Happy New Year...i hope it brings you much love and happiness...xxx

Hello and thankyou for dropping by...

Well we're into January and our monthly Tag Swaps have resumed...back in December it was my turn to choose a theme and with it being that festive time of year the angel on top of our Christmas tree sprang to mind...so the theme was set Angel's or Fairies...as i'm a huge fan of Tim Holtz my interpretation is heavily influenced by him...

...I had such fun making this tag, a real labour of love, especially as i forgot that i had a bowl full of beads on my lap and got straight up to make a cuppa, well as you can imagine the little critters made their way to all corners of the room dancing across the wooden floor...i was still finding them the next day!...just as well i had enough beads to finish all the tags...well i hope you like my Angel...till next time big love from me...Xx
