TATTERED WINGS

...today I'd like to share with you a simple card...

...with the most glorious day we've been given today, all God's winged creatures seem to of sprung into action... they have inspired me...

...the sun, the warmth, and the stillness have left the flight path in the garden humming with activity... a huge Dragonfly darts back and forth across the pond...such an amazing creature with fine gossamer wings...

...the background paper is Tim Holtz Idea-Ology-Kraft Resist...

...the body of my dragonfly is from my collection of driftwood...

...the wings were pinched together and secured with fine black wire with the ends left long for the antenna...

...for the wings i used a paper full of silken strands which if you pull it about enough gives you that tattered look...

...thankyou for dropping by today...

VINTAGE ROMANCE

...Tag Swap...

...Hello...today i'm sharing with you our latest Tag Swap...the theme for this month was chosen by May 'Vintage Romance'...
...I have to confess that this Tag was not what i'd originally made for our swap, you see the original along with another got my cup of tea all over it (never again will i have my cuppa on my desk) so frantically I had to start again and knock up 4 more slightly different ones...

...I used a Texture Fades on the whole Tag which I then distressed with Old Paper...a roughed up scrap of burlap was glued down...the crumpled brown paper heart was distressed with Black Soot, Barn Door & Walnut...

...I had a rather lovely piece of fabric leftover from another project...it started off beige with pretty little stars (see woyww 141) it was randomly spritzed with Patina, Tattered Leather & Red Velvet Glimmer mist then screwed up into a ball and left to dry on my radiator!...I pinked the edges then shaped into a bow then added a small embossed wooden heart...

...the rather lovely sentiments at the top & bottom of the Tag are Whimsy Stamps from their set called 'Time Flies Sentiment Set' ...they were inked in Barn Door...

...thankyou for dropping by today I hope you like...

...nearly all the products used on this Tag can be bought in-store or online at http://www.thatcraftplace.co.uk/

CHALLENGE

...hello everyone it's  CHALLENGE NUMBER 6 over at THAT CRAFT PLACE...

...the theme is called LOVE IS ALL AROUND...

...I have made 2 cards for this Challenge which I hope will inspire you to enter...there is great in store Blog Candy to be won, have fun and give it a go...

...the background paper is from The Printery Collection...this was 2/3 covered with a Texture Fades and put through the Big Shot then embossed with opaque white then i rubbed in Vintage Photo DI to take away the brightness...

...Spun Sugar was used on the edges and randomly all over...

...as were the pretty pink beads & iridescent stars...

...a dash of Red Velvet Glimmer Mist...

...a large brown paper heart was crumpled then a cute red one stuck on top...I made the starburst arrow with thickish wire, the stars are Grunge Board sprayed silver and gold rubbed in and attached by fine wire (so you can place them where you want)...

...now card number 2...

...background paper as above...Frayed Burlap DI rubbed in all over and outer edge of card is Chipped Sapphire...a piece of old Denim and Burlap with Corrugated Card inked in Frayed Burlap, Chipped Sapphire & Spun sugar all stuck down...

...the wooden heart was inked in Spun Sugar then over loaded in iridescent stars...

...the lovely sentiment is from a set of Whimsy Stamps called Time Flies Sentiment Set...

FORBIDDEN...

...were I crowned the most imperial Monarch,
thereof most worthy,
were I the fairest youth that ever made eye swerve, had force and knowledge more than was ever man's, I would not prize them without her love...

...from the Winters Tale...

...the course of true love never runs smooth...well we've all heard that before...

...with St Valentines Day just around the corner we're bombarded in the run up with all things fluffy...so my inspiration for this posting has come from Forbidden Love not the illicit kind but the kind that crosses divides...because of colour, race or creed...and of course William Shakespeare gave us Romeo and Juliet and their tragic quest to be together...some of the most romantic stories i've ever heard have been born from an undying, unfailing belief that love will conquer all...

...what can be more romantic than that...

...I took a plain wooden heart and inked in with Tim Holtz DI Barn Door then over loaded it with bright red sequins, building up the texture...

...this barbed wire was easy to make, just twist small cut pieces around a length of wire to required size (be careful as quite sharp)...

...I love the texture the sequins give...

...my sewing is a little rustic looking and the thread is actually fine string...the heart was glued to this square of burlap which was glued to the canvas...i'd roughly DI'd with Vintage Photo, Walnut and Pumice Stone then  random squirts of Glimmer Mist...

...thankyou for stopping by today...I hope my posting gets you thinking...

SNOW HEART

...a few days ago we have had a bucket load of snow dumped on us...being on the South Coast this is fairly rare but seems to be happening a little more often, it doesn't last to long and is always pretty but alas today has been the big melt!...

...there are certain times in life when you have to do a double take and today I had one of those moments, I rushed to get the camera and hoped it hadn't gone by the time I got back...you see outside my back door is a huge Conifer Tree and it was laden with snow, all the branches groaning under the weight...then in the space of the afternoon it had all melted...that is except for this pure white Snow Heart...i zoomed in as much as i could but my camera is small...

...it made me smile...

ALTERED CALENDAR

...today i'm sharing with you an Altered Wooden Calendar...

...it's my first time for altering and I have to say i was nervous, so have kept it simple...

...I have mainly used Tim Holtz Distress Inks...Tumbled Glass, Peeled Paint & Walnut were used for the main body of the Calendar and Old Paper on the chunky cubes, which were edged with the Walnut...

...I sprayed Sapphire Glimmer Mist over the entire Calendar, the photo does not really capture the effect very well which is a shame as it's such an amazing colour...the stamp is Andy Skinners 'Word Up' which I embossed with Silver Dollar and on various edges too...

...I did mess up with the embossing the E was over loaded as you can see but I couldn't correct it..it's supposed to look shabby/distressed so hopefully all is not lost...the big flower is a Sizzix Die called 'Flowers'...distressed with Faded Jeans and a cute wooden flower button in the center...

...well there it is my first effort ...i'm quite pleased with the end result ...next time i will go elaborate...most of the products I have used can be bought in store or online at http://www.thatcraftplaceblog.blogspot.com/  there are still a few items left in the sale so don't miss out...

...thankyou for stopping by today...
